Urinary incontinence ans stress incontinence
Urinary incontinence is an involuntary loss of urine by bladder and/or sphincter dysfunction which leads to embarrassment in daily life.
Many factors predispose patients to incontinence, such as age, intensive sport, obesity, tobacco consumption, chronic bronchitis, urinary infections, perineal hypotonia, pregnancy…
Regarding stress incontinence, this corresponds to involuntary leaks of urine, without the need to urinate beforehand. They occur when the bladder is stressed, for instance when coughing, laughing, sneezing, jumping, running, picking up heavy loads or any other physical activity which increases intra-abdominal pressure.
In our Paediatric and Perineal Rehabilitation Centre (CRPP), in Belval and Dudelange, our team of physiotherapists use different types of rehabilitation to prevent and treat these different symptoms.
